Why GetSnus Was Sold
I’m not Mr. GetSnus, so I don’t know the real reason. But here’s what logic tells us:
Remember, GetSnus was owned by Cigar International, whose primary business is selling cigars, not snus. PACT makes dealing with snus a pain in the ass. Cigars will still be easy breezy. Since snus probably didn’t even account for 1% of their sales, it’s an easy choice. Dump it.
You may say, “But Swedish Match owns them in a round about convoluted corporate mumbo jumbo way.”
True. But Swedish Match isn’t focused on the retail snus business either. It is a manufacturer and distributor. Swedish Matchis spinning off its cigar business anyway, so keeping GetSnus out of the back of Cigar International doesn’t make sense once it’s spun off anyway. Add PACT and it’s plain stupid.
I admit that a few weeks ago I guessed, incorrectly, what would happen to GetSnus due to the spinoff/merger deal. Now I’m wondering about the cigar shop snus refrigerators. I have a new hypothesis.
I imagine that General Cigar will no longer push snus fridges to its customers. (Heck they probably blew their snus wad on the cigar dudes a year ago). Now, we will likely see some other kind of distribution that will be handled by Swedish Match North America separately of General Cigar. What will that be? I don’t know, but their General Snus bar tour might give us a hint.

Getsnus.com is now EXACTLY like Northerner.com, but with a different logo and colors. I wonder if they’ll still send me free cans.
