The Best Flavor You’ve Never Snused

Snus comes in all sorts of flavors, and there all all sorts of flavorings in snus. Swedish Match’s website alone lists some 300 ingredients in snus. But one of my most favorite flavors has never been used…In fact, if you googled my favorite flavor and the word snus in quotes, you’d find zero matches (other than this page once the Google man finds it in a few minutes). If you don’t use quotes, you get my website when I was talking about my favorite tea…

It’s used in everything. Sometimes it’s sweet, other times it’s savory. It’s used to flavor ice cream, cookies, chicken, rice, and even shrimp.

Know what it is?

Think of big furry nuts filled with white stuff.

Yep…

Coconuts

When I realized this, I knew that my next experiment would have to use coconut. Over the past few days, I’ve used it on about every kind of snus I have (except Thunder Blue).

Goteborgs No. 2 Coconut: Delicious
Knox Los Coconut: Awesome
Catch Mint Vanilla Coconut: Fantastic
Tre Ankare Coconut: Great
Skruf Cranberry Coconut: Amazing
Nick & Johnny Strong Coconut: Bad Ass

There were more. They were all good (except Camel Mellow Coconut… although it was an improvement). The coconut didn’t hide the flavor of snus. Instead it complimented each of them. But I could just be a coconut freak. I add coconut milk to pasta sauce, always go for coconut gelato, and my favorite tea is coconut assam.

I highly recommend you give this a try. All you need is snus and coconut extract.

The recipes for loose snus:

1. Dump out the snus into a bowl
2. Add about a teaspoon of coconut extract.
3. Stir well.
4. Taste.
If it’s not flavorfull enough, repeat steps 2-4.

The recipe for Portion Snus:

1. Put one drop of coconut extract into a bowl.
2. Roll the drop across the bowl.
3. Take 1 portion and rub it across the path of the extract, but not in the drop itself.
4. Turn over the portion and repeat step 3.
5. Pop it in.

Of course, I don’t think every snus should taste like coconut. But at least ONE should. I think it would be perfect for a Catch Limited Edition… And I think they should name it after me… That’s stupid. How about “Island.”

Actually, Island Catch kinda sounds like a VD you’d get in the Philippines… So I went with ISLE, which looks a little strange in all caps, but doesn’t have any sicknesses associated with it.

If you give my recipe a try, let me know what you think.

Island Catch does sound painful. So is “bad ass” more or less yummy than “awesome”? I haven’t done any snus flavoring, but I may have to try this.
