Snus Review: Catch Glow

The newest Catch, called glow, is flavored, they say, with elder and lime. I’m not familiar with elder. I know lime. First, the tin has more green in the color than I see on the pictures here. This is not the last time this little snus will try to trick you.

Review: Pop the tin open and you’ll probably smell, as I did, Lysol. Put it in, and it’ll taste about the same. You’ll probably think, what the hell is this garbage. But do not spit it out. Those first highly objectionable scents and flavors are a defense for what awaits. What is it? After a couple minutes that pungent floor cleaner taste gives way for what’s now — far and away — the best and most interesting Catch flavor to date.

As briefly as possible: It’s salty lemon. Sure, it’s more complex than that. The lemon (lime?) is a lot like the flavor you get in one of those squeeze lemon things. I don’t what it’s called. So, I’ll steal a picture from web:

However, it’s not knock your socks of sour. There is some sourness to it, but it’s more like the snus tastes as if it should be sour without the sourness. What ends up coming through is a delicious and unique salty lemon flavor. There’s no sweetness, and I can’t taste any tobacco. Also, I still don’t know what the hell an elder is, so if it’s there it’s melding with the lemon flavor.

I should say that I’m a huge fan of anything involving lemon and salt. Margaritas… hummus… hummus margaritas. Now that I think about it, we should add these to our list of suggestions for Catch Chameleon 2011. That along with Island Catch would make me a happy doctor.

Dominant Flavors:
Salty Lemon

Buzz Factor:
Mild

The Prognosis:
I’m hooked at the moment and now after the better part of a tin, I’m fond of the Lysol smell it emits.

Dr. Snus Rating:
+++++ (Lysol gone delicious)
