PACT Act is Back
On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee will discuss and vote on whether it will send the PACT Act to the Senate for a full vote.
This would be kind of a bummer for buying snus online. Either it would either make it illegal or put a bunch of hoops so that it would be a pain in the ass (and expensive).
I don’t really have much insight into what Senators think. Or wait, yeah I do “MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY.”
There’s a petition going around to exclude Swedish snus. It has like 50 signatures. I signed it. It very likely won’t do shit.
On Thursday, it might be interesting to watch them talk about it, if they get to it. Two weeks ago they skipped it. You can watch it here Thursday at 10:00 Eastern. It could give us a hint as to what might play out in the Senate.
If the committee passes it, I think the best thing to do would be to stock up a little if you don’t have a decent supply already. I’m sure snus will still be available, but you’ll be saving yourself a few bucks — especially if you live in a state with bullshit smokeless tobacco taxes, like dumb-fuck Texas, where I live. And who knows what the final law and the transition to compliance will be like? It could be a mess of idiot bureaucrats banging their heads together.
