Goteborg Rape No. 2.

Review: You might be asking, “What in the world does Göteborg Rape No. 2 taste like?” Let me tell you. Rape is delicious. Flavored with lingon berries, the Swedish version of Vaccinium vitis-idaea, it’s a little tart and a little sweet. But it’s not overly candy-like at all and has a medium strength woody tobacco flavor throughout.

This is the second flavor offering in the Goteborg Rape line by Swedish Match. Goteborg is Sweden’s second largest city, a beautiful city on the south western side of the country. Rape No. 2 has an oily feel and taste to it, but it’s a little less pronounced than it is in the original Rape.

On the first taste, the berries come out, giving Rape No. 2 a taste slightly resembling jello, but as the flavor develops. hints of orangey citrus begin to emerge. And after several minutes both meld together to produce a very pleasant flavor that’s both mildly tart and sour, like a cranberry and like a lemon. As these flavors mellow further, the salty tobacco flavor begins to take over, without being overwhelming.

Suggest use time: 30-90 minutes. Before 20 minutes, the flavor hasn’t yet fully developed, and after more than 90 minutes, the best part of the flavor has passed and you significantly increase the chance of snus bag structural failure.

If you like a complex snus full of flavor and body, this snus is for you. This is one of my favorites.

    Goteborg Rape No.2 is one of my favorite snus. If you like the taste of this, then you’d probably want to give Skruf Tranbar a try. It has more of a cranberry taste, but equally delicious.

    Great reviews here. Can I just make a correction to this one? - the Rape part of Göteborgs Rapé doesn’t mean rape as in rape seed oil. It is the french word for cut which was used by the Swedes to mean the type of cut of snus way back when snuff was originally introduced from France.

    The oiliness of this brand (especially the lös) is probably due to the flavoring oils and glycerol they use to make it stick together.
